INTERVIEW PREPARATION

The JD is your most valuable prep tool

When preparing for an interview, the job description is your most valuable guide.

If you analyse it properly, two things happen…

  • preparation becomes faster

  • interview performance improves (give more relevant stories + ask better questions)

Here's how to start.

Every job description is built around four types of information:

  • Technical skills

  • Soft skills

  • Business context

  • Work style

Extract the key skills from the JD and categorise them.

Then, it’s time to prepare your stories.

INTERVIEW PREPARATION

You don’t need 10 stories to pass interviews

In your story bank, you don’t need 10 different stories. You need 5–6 strong ones that you can adapt.

For example:

  • Situation: I noticed our data pipeline was failing silently

  • Action: Alerted stakeholders, investigated root cause, rewrote it in Python with proper error logging

  • Result: Failures now automatically detected, data accuracy improved, debugging time dropped from hours to minutes

This one story can be used for questions on 3 different skills: Python, ownership and indepedent working.
