Apply to the BIS first if you lead data teams: it hires every nationality, but applications close on 2 November. C++ desktop engineers should look at Nexthink, the freshest posting here.

1. Senior/Lead Data & Analytics Engineer at the Bank for International Settlements

Bank for International Settlements logo

The Bank for International Settlements is hiring a Senior/Lead Data & Analytics Engineer in Basel to lead the data and analytics systems behind its Monetary and Economic Department, on a three-year fixed-term contract.

In practice, that means turning what economists and statisticians need into working pipelines, interfaces and dashboards. You would look after how statistical data is collected and published, including the bank's SDMX work, and keep production support running. The tools named on the posting include Lakehouse engineering, Kubernetes, high-performance computing and AI or machine learning for things like document processing, anomaly detection and forecasting.

It ranks first for two reasons. The visa terms are the clearest on this list: because the BIS is an international organisation, the posting says it can hire candidates of every nationality, living anywhere, and it offers relocation support for the hire and their dependent family. And it is the most time-sensitive: the application deadline is 2 November, five days from today.

Best for: a data or analytics engineer with more than six years of experience who already guides junior colleagues and likes working with non-engineers.

Skip it if: you want a permanent role, since the contract runs for three years, or you cannot get an application in by 2 November.

Salary: No salary on the listing. The posting mentions a competitive package with childcare and education allowances where applicable.

At a glance: Basel · hybrid, including home-office and work-from-abroad days · 6+ years · posted 12 October (16 days ago).

What stood out: The BIS has posted 4 roles in Switzerland on The Stack in the last 90 days, the third-highest count in the country.

Watch out for: Fixed-term contract and a hard deadline. English is the bank's working language, so no German or French is required.

2. Staff/Senior Software Engineer, Desktop Application at Nexthink

Nexthink logo

Nexthink is hiring a Staff/Senior Software Engineer in Lausanne to set the technical direction of its native desktop app for Windows and macOS, a permanent hybrid role that asks for 7+ years.

The client already runs on more than 20 million endpoints, so the work is about architecture, stability and distribution: code signing, packaging, installs, updates and uninstalls. You would sit in the AI Agents department and work with product, AI/ML, backend and security teams, plus mentor and run design reviews.

Best for: a C++ engineer who has shipped a native desktop app to a big install base and knows the Windows and macOS system APIs well.

Skip it if: your desktop work has been mostly web or Electron; the posting puts C++ and OS-level APIs first, with Rust, Tauri and React as extras.

Salary: No salary on the listing.

At a glance: Lausanne · hybrid · 7+ years · posted 27 October (1 day ago).

What stood out: Nexthink has 13 listings in Switzerland on The Stack in 90 days, more than any other company, and this one went up yesterday.

Watch out for: The posting offers a relocation package for people moving from abroad but has no line on visa sponsorship. Confirm it in your first call. Nexthink pays up to half the cost of French classes, which hints at life in Lausanne, though the role does not require French.

3. Senior/Staff Security Engineer, Detection & Response at Anthropic

Anthropic logo

Anthropic is hiring a Senior/Staff Security Engineer in Zürich to lead incident response and build detection tooling, with staff expected in the office at least 25% of the time.

This is a hands-on role. You would run investigations into outside attacks and insider threats, write and tune detections and playbooks, and build tools, some of them on language models, that speed up detection and response. There is an on-call rotation.

Best for: a detection engineer or incident responder who is comfortable writing Python and SQL and has worked with EDR, SIEM or SOAR tools in the cloud.

Skip it if: you want a pure management track or no on-call duty.

Salary: No salary on the listing.

At a glance: Zürich · in the office at least 25% of the time · 7+ years preferred · posted 9 October (19 days ago).

What stood out: It is the oldest posting on this list at 19 days, and one of 2 Anthropic listings in Switzerland on The Stack in 90 days.

Watch out for: The posting says Anthropic sponsors visas but cannot do so for every role and every candidate, so ask early.

How to choose

If you lead data work and can move fast, start with the BIS, because applications close on 2 November and its visa terms are the plainest. If you write C++ for Windows and macOS, Nexthink is the natural fit and the only posting here that states a permanent contract. If incident response is your trade, Anthropic is the only security role. None of the three lists a salary, so ask for the base range in the first call. Skip this list if you have fewer than six years of experience or want a pure people-manager role. You can also see every visa-sponsored job in Switzerland on The Stack.

Before you apply

Switzerland does not publish a single salary threshold for skilled workers from outside the EU and EFTA. According to the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), you must be a manager, specialist or other skilled professional, the employer must show it could not hire someone from Switzerland or the EU/EFTA, and pay and conditions must match what is customary for the region and sector. Admissions are also capped by annual quotas, and EU and EFTA citizens have easier access under the free movement agreement. The BIS is the exception here, as an international organisation that says it can hire any nationality.

What The Stack's data shows

The Stack has 60 live visa-sponsored listings in Switzerland today, and only 2 of them state a salary. Nexthink has posted the most in the country over the last 90 days, with 13 listings. None of the three postings here was saved by a reader yet, and none of the candidates we checked had closed.

FAQ

Which tech companies sponsor visas for senior engineers in Switzerland?

Of the postings checked today, Anthropic's Zürich security role says it sponsors visas, though not for every candidate. The BIS in Basel hires all nationalities as an international organisation, and Nexthink's Lausanne posting offers relocation but does not mention visas.

Do I need German or French for a tech job in Switzerland?

Not for these three. The BIS works in English, and neither the Nexthink nor the Anthropic posting lists a language requirement. Nexthink does pay for part of French classes.

Is there a minimum salary for a Swiss work permit?

The SEM sets no single figure. It requires pay and working conditions that are customary for the region, profession and sector, and the employer has to show it could not hire locally or from the EU/EFTA.

How we picked these

We filtered The Stack for active Swiss jobs with visa sponsorship, posted in the last 45 days, with staff, lead or principal in the title. That gave 7 candidate rows. We kept one role per company and dropped 2 rows from an aggregator and 1 duplicate Anthropic posting, which left 3. None of the 3 had closed when checked. Every posting was opened on the employer's site on Oct 28, 2026; we did not apply or speak to the employers.
