Behavioral rounds determine your level. This is the primary way interviewers decide whether you're mid, senior, or staff. Prepare stories that demonstrate impact at the level you're targeting, not the level you're currently at.
Writing the correct code isn't everything. How you communicate your thinking, discuss tradeoffs, and work through problems out loud is more important.
HR interviews matter more than you realise. This is where the majority of people are eliminated - prepare well, ask questions early and use your recruiter as an resource.

System design is a conversation, not a presentation. Treat the interviewer as your team mate and check in regularly, “I'm thinking we go deep on the caching layer, how does that sound?”
TOOLS FOR YOUR CAREER
Nimbalyst. A local, visual workspace for building with Claude Code and Codex.
Visually edit markdown, mockups, csv, excalidraw, code. See and approve AI changes. Manage sessions, tasks, kanban, worktrees, and git.
Prioritise learning patterns. Jumping straight into random LeetCode problems is ineffective; work through the core patterns (trees, graphs, DP, backtracking etc.) first, then drill lists once the foundations are solid.
Salary negotiation requires data. "I want more" with no evidence doesn't move anything. Use something like a a pay rise you're forfeiting or a salary benchmark.
